AMDA New York, the American Musical and Dramatic Academy is centered in one of the city's cultural hubs. Manhattan's Upper West Side. The campus is surrounded by some of the most renowned performing arts venues in the world, including Broadway's theater district, and Lincoln Center. AMDA New York's main campus facility, located on 61st Street is over 60,000 square feet containing 28 studios and classrooms, 25 private voice rooms, student lounges, a performing arts library, and a newly renovated theater. The historic Ansonia building, one of AMDA's original locations, houses a black box style theater performance in studio spaces, and private voice rooms. The 54th Street building is equipped with dance studios, classrooms, and 24 hour security. AMDA New York offers two residents options for students, the Stratford arms and the Amsterdam, both located within walking distance of the main campus buildings. Each building offers furnished units with 24 hour security, a variety of amenities, including community kitchens, student lounges, an outdoor patio and Rehearsal Studios.
AMDA College of the Performing Arts Los Angeles is located in the center of Hollywood, near the historic intersection of Hollywood and Vine. Steps away from the Pantages Theater, Capitol Records, and the legendary Hollywood Bowl. The two and a half acre main campus is centered around the yucca tower, an eight storey historic art deco building with 35,000 square feet, dedicated to studios, classrooms, a stage combat armory, a performing arts library, administrative and faculty offices, and a 99 seat black box theater with backstage costume shop and makeup rooms. At the ground floor of the tower is the AMDA Cafe. Outside the cafe is the campus Piazza. Here, students enjoy the sunny Southern California weather while eating lunch, studying, meeting with friends, or utilizing the free Wi Fi access. The piazza is also the venue for open houses and other special AMDA events. Across the street from the tower and right next to the historic Capitol Records building is the Vine Street building. This five storey facility houses numerous classrooms, Studios, 11 Private voice rooms, a film screening room, a computer lab, and the AMDA center for health and performance where students have access to athletic performance trainers, mental health counselors, and vocal health resources. The Vine building also features the AV office and the AMDA student lounge with various food and drink options. The IVR building to the west of the tower houses an additional seven private voice rooms. AMDA's new Dance Center is located a few blocks south of the main campus. This state of the art facility includes five dance studios. The Cosmo is AMDA's largest performance space and the newest addition to the LA campus. The Cosmo is located two blocks from the main campus and just a few steps from the world famous Hollywood Boulevard. The building houses the school's mainstage theater where AMDA puts on musicals, plays, dance concerts, and special events. Recent productions include the BFA musical "Aida," the BFA play "Shakespeare in Love" and AMDA's dance concert "Treelogy." The main floor contains a large performance space and the wardrobe department upstairs houses the control room downstairs is the school's main recording studio to large classrooms for acting, film, and production, the makeup department and extensive storage space that contains 1000s of costumes from past and present and reproduction. Although the building is only two blocks from the main campus, AMDA provides the shuttle service for students as they travel back and forth to the main campus. AMDA offers a variety of housing options for students. There are three residence halls located on campus and four more located nearby. All units are furnished and have 24 hour security. The Vine Street residence hall is on the gated campus and adjacent to the main camp was building. These apartments include hardwood floors, large windows, and efficiency kitchens. Vine Street residents also enjoy a courtyard patio, a student activity room and laundry facilities the Jaka Street Apartments are located on campus and our two bedroom furnished flats which sleeps six. The apartments include oak hardwood floors, large bay windows, and plenty of extra space. These classic Los Angeles apartments come with separate living and dining rooms, efficiency kitchens and onsite laundry. Adjacent to these apartments are the bungalow residents. These authentic craftsman bungalows are situated around a landscaped courtyard and are bright, spacious and truly Californian. Each furnished bungalow features oak hardwood floors, crown molding, large windows, and a faux fireplace. bungalows sleep for students and include a separate dining area and efficiency kitchen. The allview Residence Hall is located next to campus and provides contemporary student living in the heart of Hollywood. Student rooms are furnished and include a full size refrigerator. Additionally, the residents include a spacious garden courtyard, laundry facilities and a student lounge. The Franklin residence hall is a short walk from campus and is a five storey neoclassical building featuring exposed brick hardwood floors, an oversized French windows with impressive Hollywood views. The building includes loft style spaces, contemporary kitchens, and standard with each unit is newly renovated restrooms and closets. Residents of the Franklin enjoy a fitness center, a Zen Garden, a private gated parking lot, and 24 hour laundry room. The Gilbert is a remodeled Classic Hollywood hotel located a few blocks away from campus and right off the glorious Sunset Boulevard. The building is three storeys tall and offers living spaces for 135 students. The complex contains a brand new fitness center, a computer lab, a completely renovated communal kitchen, and an enclosed courtyard where students can study, eat and hang out. Although the building is only four blocks from the main campus, and provides a shuttle service that runs from morning to evening for students, and the Gilbert is in the heart of a newly revitalized part of Hollywood with chic new hotels, restaurants and coffee houses. The Twain residence hall is a newly refurbished building, equipped with student lounges, laundry facilities, and renovated rooms. The Twain Residence Hall is located one block north of the Gilbert residence hall. All of these housing options and facilities give amateur students the opportunity to live, study and learn their craft with their peers.
